I depend upon Flash usage for lesson plans that I use on the Internet. Thinking that this difference could be with effect, I turned off the virus protection on the Desktop, did an uninstall of the Flash software, did a re-boot, did an install from the exe file and then re-started IE. But one has Security Pro and the notebook has PC-cillin Internet Security 2007. Both machines use antivirus software from Trend Micro Incorporated. It is easy to think that the non-operability in IE on the desktop must be related to some line in the registry. Wish I could compare registry lines between the notebook and the desktop. So, I proceeded to re-install Flash when in the Firefox window and indeed now I have Flash operability in both Firefox and in IE on the notebook computer. So, then I thought I would once again set Firefox as the default and that would restore Flash operability to Firefox. I experienced that when I changed IE as being the default browser, I could use Flash in IE on the notebook but Flash operability was no longer available in Firefox. It does not work under IE but does under Firefox.Īnd an update re the notebook. I uninstalled Flash, set UAC to on, re-booted, and then re-installed Flash from an exe file with all other windows closed.

So, I did want to assure that I tried your recommendation. UAC is frequently turned off on this machine as it interferes with another user's use of the Internet.

Whichever is indicated as being the default choice is the one that will allow Flash Player to work. And there I can go to Vista Start, then Default Programs and select "Set your default programs" and toggle between IE and Firefox as to which should be the default program choice. Now, I have both Firefox and IE Vista working on a notebook. Yet, I cannot get it to work under IE on the desktop computer. With Moilla Firefox, I have Flash Player working. (included in the Window recommendation link posted at top) Including the resetting of the registry offered by Adobe:Īnd the recommendation specific to Vista using the Windows Sys32: I have applied all the recommendations offered by Adobe for Windows: On the Desktop, I cannot get Flash Player (latest install version) to work under IE but it works fine under Mozilla Firefox. One on a desktop and the other is on a Notebook.
